Kappa Alpha Psi conducts Founder’s Day program

Hartsville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi conducted a Founder’s Day Program at Anointed Word Bible Way Church on January 14.

Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. is a college fraternity which has functioning undergraduate and alumni chapters on major campuses and in areas throughout the country and world. The fraternity was a vision shared by the late Rev. Founder Elder Watson Diggs, “The Dreamer” John Milton Lee, Byron K. Armstrong, Guy L. Grant, Ezra D. Alexander, Henry T. Asher, Marcus P. Blakemore, Paul Caine, Edward G. Irvin, and George Edmonds. “It was the vision of these astute men which enabled them in the school year  1910-11, more specifically the night of Jan. 5, 1911, on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, IN, to sow a seed of a fraternal tree whose fruit is available to, and now enjoyed by, college men everywhere, regardless of their color, creed, or national origin. The Constitution of Kappa Alpha Psi is predicated upon, and dedicated to, the principles of achievement through a truly democratic fraternity,” as quoted from The History of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.

The Founders Day Program and message was given by Pastor Tommy Milo Jr. of The Anointed Word Bible Way Church. The brothers of our chapter and friends and members had a meal and fellowship after the message given by Brother Rev. Tommy Milo Jr., pastor of this church.

Anyone interested in joining the fraternity and chapter can contact any brother mentioned above or contact our Polemarch James Ford at ramond@ bellsouth.net.

The chapter has participated in Kappa Kan Goods Drive and donated to the Florence Literacy Council, The Lord Cares Ministry in Darlington and to the Carolina Kids Program in Hartsville, as well as other agencies. The fraternity has a program called Guide Right, whose primary function is to mentor and guide youth and help them to make right decisions about life, jobs, and overall training for our future leaders.
