Hartsville High places third in Anderson Brothers golf championship
Anderson Brothers Bank hosted its Invitational High School Championship on April 12.
The tournament was originally established as a 36-hole stroke play competition for high school golf teams from the Pee Dee area of South Carolina. Held every spring since 2000, the tournament has been open to both public and private school golf teams.
A.C. Flora High School put on a performance for the ages in winning the 18th edition of the Anderson Brothers Bank High School Golf Championship. A.C. Flora’s total of 579 set a new tournament record and out-paced second place Myrtle Beach by 18 shots.
A.C. Flora’s win positioned them to be the favorites for a Class AAAA State Championship coming up in May.
Stellar play by Myrtle Beach on Tuesday with the day’s low score of 286 allowed them to leap frog two teams into second place. Myrtle Beach was led by tournament medalist Holden Grigg who fired a final round 64 for the come-from-behind individual win over Ryan Marter of A.C. Flora.
Hartsville made a late rally to hold off Lexington for third place.
Holden Grigg from Myrtle Beach won the individual medalist honors with a two day total of 5 under par 138 edging out first round leader Ryan Marter of A.C. Flora. Tied for third was Micah Westermyer of Chapin and Jack Parrott of A.C. Flora.
The Invitational is used by most teams as a tune up for their run to the South Carolina State Championships.
