Book donations at Carolina Pines

Children in the pediatric department of Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center have a huge tub of new books to enjoy thanks to local student Rachel Creech, who recently has expanded her local book donation to include the hospital.

“I have always had a large library of books for myself,” said Rachel. “And I love reading. I want other children to have that advantage to read, too.” Rachel is 11 years old, and attends North Hartsville Elementary School. She has donated over 2,200 books so far to the Hartsville Soup Kitchen Mission, and helped organize her school’s book drive to send 500 books to flood victims in 2015.

This is a passion for this young reader, who also competes in gymnastics when she is not collecting books. Rachel will be replenishing the book collection at both the soup kitchen and the pediatric ward each month.
