The Hartsville Red Fox football team traveled to Crestwood last Friday to take on the Knights in a big conference game. The Red Fox defense completely dominated the entire night as the Foxes rolled to a 48-0 victory. In a game that was sloppy at times the Foxes recovered seven fumbles while losing three fumbles of their own. But the story of the game was the defense holding Crestwood to 91 yards of total offense.

Joyner scored on a QB sneak and Caleb Caldwell’s PAT put the Foxes up 7-0. The Foxes then executed an onside kick, giving Hartsville the ball at the Crestwood 19 yard line.
On the first play A.J. Joyner scored again with his 19 yard scamper and Caldwell’s PAT made it 14-0 at th 6:41 mark in the first quarter. The Foxes’ next possession resulted in a bad snap on a punt giving the Knights possession in Red Fox territory. The Crestwood offense went backwards and lost a fumble to the Foxes on the last play of the quarter.
The second quarter began with the Foxes on Crestwood’s 10 yard line. On third down Joyner found Deshawn Davis for an 11 yard TD pass. The PAT was good and the Foxes led 21-0. Later in the quarter the Foxes drove to Crestwood’s 3 yard line after recovering a Knights’ fumble near midfield.
With 57 seconds before halftime, Tiyon Evans ran it in and Caldwell’s PAT made it 28-0 at the half. The third quarter began with the Foxes fumbling the kickoff return near midfield. The defense held and the Foxes got the ball back on Crestwood’s 43 yard line. On third down Evans scored again on a 43 yard run and Caldwell converted the extra point making the score 35-0. In the final quarter the Foxes took advantage of another fumble recovery to move the ball to the Knights’ 14 yard line.
From there Joyner connected with Cole Beasley for a TD. The PAT failed, leaving the score 41-0. With a running clock the Foxes regained the ball on their 30 yard line. They drove 70 yards for another score with Darian Pendergrass running it in from the 14 yard line.
Caldwell’s PAT made the final score 48-0. The Bizzell’s Office Player of the Game was A.J. Joyner as he threw 2 TD’s and ran for two more leading the Red Fox offensive. With a number of players to pick from Demonte Capehart was the Bizzell’s Defensive Player of the Game by dominating the line of scrimmage, forcing three fumbles and returning one down to the one yard line, leading to the Foxes’ first TD.
