Twitter’s Post Limitations: Elon Musk Raises Concerns About Restricted User Access

Twitter's Post Limitations Elon Musk Raises Concerns About Restricted User Access

Elon Musk responds to user concerns about receiving “rate limit exceeded” message, stating that Twitter is temporarily limiting the number of posts users can read because of data scraping issues, something he had always expressed distaste for. However, he didn’t state how long it will last or when it will end.

This abrupt change caused Musk to raise the limits of how many posts can be viewed by verified, unverified, and new unverified accounts, which had to be increased once more following additional reports.

Still, many are left irritated by the disturbance of their online activity and continue to worry how it will affect their daily scrolling. James Spann, a meteorologist, expresses worries that the platform could become useless for monitoring weather updates and alerts if nothing is done about it.

Twitter Becoming Unstable

Many reports continue to be sent out everyday with Saturday being the highest according to Downdetector, a website that tracks the amount of user reports per day. The hashtag “#Twitterdown” instantly became viral with people commenting their thoughts on the matter and making memes about it. Some have taken out their annoyance on other social media platforms such as YouTube.

Many have expressed frustration over Musk’s drastic changes to the social networking site, causing it to become unstable, leaving many to search for alternatives one of which is the invite-only Bluesky that became popular amidst the rate limit outage causing many to flock to it. The other being Mastodon. As a result, the Bluesky’s owner has temporarily restricted sign-ups.

Furthermore, according to a document, Twitter has been unable to meet its US weekly sales projection and their advertising revenue has dropped down to a significant 59% from last year. Twitter salespeople have asked two employees what to tell their clients since some advertisements were not appearing on the platform.
