10,000 people recite Bhagavad Gita at event in Texas on Guru Purnima
On the occasion of Guru Purnima, some 10,000 people gathered at Allen East Centre in Texas on Monday to recite the religious Hindu text Bhagavad Gita.

By India Today World Desk: About 10,000 people gathered in Texas in the United States to take part in a collective recitation of the sacred text, Bhagavad Gita, on the occasion of Guru Purnima on Monday. The grand scale of the event marked the first of its kind in the US.
The event, known as the Bhagavad Gita Parayan Yagya, was organised by Yoga Sangeeta Trust America and SGS Geeta Foundation, according to news agency PTI.
Spiritual guru Pujya Ganpati Sachidanand led the religious event, which was attended by people of varying age groups.
Guru Purnima is a religious festival wherein people express their gratitude towards spiritual and academic mentors.This festival is also known as Vyasa Purnima and has been traditionally observed in significant regions of India, Nepal, and Bhutan by followers of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.
The recitation was held in the presence of renowned spiritual saint Pujya Ganapathy Sachidananda ji on Monday, July 3, according to information ANI gathered from the Avadhoota Datta Peetham Ashram in Mysuru. It is an International Spiritual, Cultural and Social Welfare organisation. The website says of Pujya Ganapathy Sachchidananda, “His Holiness Parama Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji is the Founder Pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham at Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama in Mysore, India. Sri Swamiji is renowned for His Meditation music and He is considered a divine guide who promotes the ancient Vedic traditions.” It adds, “Sri Swamiji’s universal vision and deep compassion for the upliftment of the mankind has inspired the Peetham to run a vast variety of programs, activities and projects towards enrichment of human life.”
