The Michigan DA charged sixteen false electors who were involved in a scheme that claimed former President Donald Trump won in the state of Michigan during the 2020 Election. All individuals were charged with eight different felonies.
The individuals were charged with conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy to commit uttering and publishing, uttering and publishing, conspiracy to commit election law forgery. In addition, two counts of forgery, and election law forgery.
The probe is involved in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation of Donald Trump and the attack on the U.S Capitol. This scheme’s investigation was reopened in January this year by Dana Nessel. Michigan’s Department of Attorney General sent a detailed report of the scheme.

Detailed Scheme and Consequences
On December 14, 2020, the group allegedly gathered and signed the documents – claiming to have been officially appointed as legal electors. The forged papers were then submitted to the United States Senate and National Archives.
The defendants and their attorneys have been notified of the case, and are scheduled to appear at the 54-A District Court. Nessel goes on to say that the investigation is still ongoing, the electors are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
She adds that her department is heavily focused on dealing with cases like this, and that neglecting to act immediately on an obvious violation of their state’s electoral ballot legislation would be a wrongdoing.
Coincidentally, Donald Trump posted on social media expressing his distaste upon receiving a letter requiring him to report on Smith’s grand jury before four days pass – referring to it as a “witch hunt” that aims to weaponize law enforcement.
He criticizes their actions against him, referring to the Democrats as “cheaters” that law enforcement has chosen to deliberately ignore and stating that this situation is unfair to him since they are targeting people like him.
