Tragic Accident Claims Life of 6-Year-Old Girl Struck by Boat Propeller in Arizona

According to officials, a 6-year-old girl who was inadvertently struck by a boat propeller on Lake Pleasant in Arizona on Friday morning has perished.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) stated in a press release that two families with a total of 12 people were out on the lake in a boat. The parents of a 6-year-old girl called 911 to report that she had been injured by the boat’s propeller.

The testimony of witnesses at the scene, the girl’s mother was driving the boat oblivious that her daughter was in the water when she began to tow the father on a wakeboard. Based to the release, the father then observed someone in the water and swam over, soon realizing it was his daughter and that the boat’s propeller had severed her leg.

Tragic Lake Incident: Desperate Efforts to Save Child’s Life End in Heartbreak

The news report stated, “The child’s family transported her to the lake marina, where MCSO deputies and fire personnel met them and immediately began rendering aid. The child was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”

While the incident is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office has stated that impairment does not appear to have played a role in the tragedy and that all 12 passengers were wearing life jackets.
