A Target shoplifter who skillfully stole a television before returning it and stealing a more costly one pleaded with Atlanta police not to go to jail as they pursued him outside the store.
On August 7 at 5:30 p.m., police received a report that an audacious shoplifter was attempting to take a television from the Target in Northeast Atlanta.
A security monitor at Target signaled to arriving officers that the male suspect was still inside the store. According to police, the security officer reported that the accused took a TV from the shop and subsequently returned shortly later to steal one more.
As officers began their search for the suspect, they came across the man exiting the store with the television on top of his shopping cart. The suspect, dressed in a white shirt and brown trousers, raised his hands in the air prior to reentering the store.
The suspect “fought with the officer for several minutes” until reinforcements arrived and arrested him, according to the police. “I didn’t mean it!” yelled the suspect.
Police Altercation with Suspect and Shoppers at Retail Shopping Center
As the video plays, shoppers encircling the suspect and officer on the ground in front of a retail shopping center observe.
According to police, neither the officer nor the suspect sustained serious injuries during the altercation, as both sustained minor bruises.
The incident occurred just days after several 7-Eleven employees in California severely beat a suspect who attempted to take tobacco products from behind the counter.
One of the store employees struck Tyrone Frazier with what appeared to be a broomstick as he was beaten mercilessly by the other employees. Frazier, who had a history of committing offenses in the area, including previous robberies at the same 7-Eleven, was arrested for the incident.
