According to authorities, a Californian man is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting at least five women in West Hollywood and Los Angeles.
Andrey “Cosmo” Nguyen, 37, is accused of seven counts of drug-related rape, three counts of sexual penetration during oral copulation during anaesthesia, one count of forcible rape, one count of oral copulation during anaesthesia, one count of sale/transportation/offer to sell a controlled substance, and one count of sexual battery.
Nguyen is accused of drugging and assaulting women between the ages of 18 and 21 between June 2021 and June 2023, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, who made the announcement on Friday.
“The violence and trauma that the five survivors in this case endured is abhorrent and will not be tolerated,” Gascón said in a statement. “My office is committed to working tirelessly to prevent sexual assault, support survivors, and hold abusers accountable. We encourage any additional victims of Andrey Thanh Nguyen to come forward.”
Nguyen was detained on Wednesday and entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment the next day, according to Gascón. His next court date is on August 30. Bail was set at $1,230,000.
The situation is being looked into by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officials are requesting the public’s help in identifying any further casualties since they think there may be more.
