Sunday during the Thunder Over Michigan air show, the pilots of a MiG-23 fighter plane ejected shortly before the aircraft crashed.

The MiG-23, which was designed by the Soviet Union, reportedly plummeted around 4:30 p.m. near an apartment complex near Belleville Road and Interstate 94, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

Officials told FOX 2 that the pilots were recovered from a lake in fine condition. There were no reported casualties at the accident site.

The video depicts the personnel ejecting from the aircraft as it began to smoke. Also captured on film is a fleeting blaze emanating from the aircraft.

Soon after the crash, Thunder Over Michigan announced the end of the air display on Facebook. The two-day spectacle marked the 25th installment of Thunder Over Michigan.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a situation that requires us to stop the show,” the Facebook page for the event stated. Please make your way to your vehicles and leave the airfield in a tranquil manner.

The incident is currently being investigated. There is currently no other information available, including the cause of the mishap.

Fox News Digital has attempted to contact a Thunder Over Michigan representative and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office but has received no response.
