A utility knife that was in a roller coaster rider’s pocket over the weekend dropped out and struck a small girl in the head at a Pennsylvania amusement park.
The girl, who authorities only referred to as a preteen, was with her family at the time at Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster shortly before she was struck in the head by the box cutter-type device, according to East Lampeter Township police and WGAL.
The young toddler fortunately only sustained a minor head injury because the instrument was not open at the time of the incident, according to police.
She left the park with her family before police arrived, according to officials, and received attention at an urgent care center.

Girl’s Whereabouts Unknown, No Criminal Charges Brought

The girl’s whereabouts at the time of her accident is unknown, although a Reddit user said the box cutter came from the Kingdom Coaster, according to LancasterOnline.
Authorities stated that since the occurrence was deemed accidental, no criminal charges would be brought.
As stated on Dutch Wonderland’s website, the primary cutting instruments that are forbidden there are knives and box cutters.
The website also adds that the park reserves its rights in all circumstances to conduct bag checks.
Three roller coasters are among the more than 35 rides at Dutch Wonderland, which opened in 1963.
