Following the release of $15 million, Michelle Lujan Grisham, the governor of New Mexico (USA), allowed tax refunds for citizens who pay taxes as well as economic aid in the form of stimulus payments for those who do not.
The reimbursement may total up to $1,000, but only married couples submitting joint returns, heads of households, and surviving spouses are eligible for it.
For single filers and married people who are filing independently of one another, a $500 credit is available.
If a resident of New Mexico has filed a 2021 Personal Tax Income (PIT) form and is not shown as a dependent on another taxpayer’s return, the rebate will be delivered to them right away.

How Can I Claim It?

If they haven’t already, eligible residents have until May 31, 2024 to submit their 2021 PIT return forms. Good news if you have already done so!
Through the end of June 2023, rebate cheques will be prepared and distributed to eligible individuals; those receiving direct deposits will receive them by June 19.
For New Mexicans who do not qualify for the aforementioned refunds, relief payments of $500 or $1,000 have also been made available.
You are still qualified even if you owe state taxes, however rebates can only be applied to liabilities for the 2021 tax year.
If you have changed addresses during that period, be sure to notify the Tax and Revenue Department as soon as possible by updating your address on your Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) or by submitting a Form RPD-41260, Personal Income Tax Change of Address Form.
Since direct deposit rebates are dependent on the information you supplied to Taxation and Revenue on your 2021 PIT form, you will get a check in the mail if your banking information has changed since you submitted the return form.
