After Volusia County sheriff’s deputies discovered the family home to be in terrible shape, Samantha Acker and Christopher Rounds were both charged with child neglect, according to Fox Orlando.

The living room floor and the majority of the other surfaces in the kitchen and living room were covered in stale food, dirty dishes, and old clothing, according to the authorities. Images from the sheriff’s office reveal cluttered rooms filled with various objects as well as unhygienic conditions in the refrigerator and bathroom.

The house, according to deputies, was also infested with roaches and other insects. The four kids of the couple were reportedly wearing filthy clothes as well.

Authorities allegedly confronted Rounds after they attempted to speak with him. He said that the reason the house was in such disarray was due to financial issues.

Temporary guardians were appointed for the four kids.
