Mere hours shortly after the Bingham County Republican Central Committee sued the Idaho Republican Party, a court on Friday granted a temporary restraining order against the group.

The Idaho GOP and its Chairwoman Dorothy Moon were accused of utilizing intimidation techniques in a recent election inside the local party, according to the Bingham County Republican Central Committee and its Chairman Matt Thompson.

The Bingham County Republican Party claims that Moon improperly exploited her position of power and influence to thwart a vote inside the Bingham County Republican Central Committee.

The case was initially filed on Thursday, but Bingham County Republicans later moved for an injunction and temporary restraining order against the group.

According to Thompson, the legal action is the result of the committee chairman election, which is a generally innocuous process.

Dan Cravens, the outgoing chairman, announced his departure in July, and the neighborhood committee held a vote to choose his successor. When Thompson was chosen as chairman, it had a cascading effect down the ranks.

The central committee organized an election to fill Thompson’s former post as state committeeman because he resigned. Ben Fuhriman was chosen to take over for Thompson.

As a result, Fuhriman’s position was left vacant, and the local committee chose Jedidiah Russell to fill it. Then Thompson chose Jordon Johns to be his first vice-chair.

When all was said and done, an anonymous complaint posed a danger to ruin everything.

Mere hours shortly after the Bingham County Republican Central Committee sued the Idaho Republican Party, a court on Friday granted a temporary restraining order against the group.

To the state party, the Bingham County Republicans challenged Moon’s choice. Daniel Silver was in charge of managing the appeal in his capacity as vice chairman of the Idaho Republican Party.

He informed Moon by writing that she couldn’t overturn the committee’s decisions until the lawsuit was resolved.

The Sept. 18 meeting is postponed until the election can be reviewed thanks to the restraining order granted in 7th District Court on Friday morning.

Furthermore, Moon is unable to name candidates for the GOP to fill the open job of Bingham County prosecuting attorney until Thompson’s appeal has been fully considered.

She said that after the outgoing chairman, the Bingham County Committee just needed to call a meeting and have a new election.

Simpson didn’t address the other allegations stated in the lawsuit. Moon added that if the election were to be held again, the outcomes would probably remain the same.

On September 28, a hearing will be held to decide whether to grant the move to keep the elected party officials in their seats. The local or state GOP cannot propose candidates for the job of prosecutor before that time.
