Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-Colo.) estranged husband is stepping out in support of the controversial congressman and claims he is to blame for marital issues. Lauren and Jayson Boebert announced their divorce in May, after nearly 18 years of marriage. The couple cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their divorce.
However, Jayson revealed some facts about the breakup in a Facebook statement made on Monday and accepted blame for the broken relationship. Jayson’s message began with a greeting to “the people of Colorado’s 3rd District and across the nation” before referring to “the deep concerns circulating” and “the attacks against Lauren,” which could be a reference to the congresswoman being kicked out of a recent stage performance of “Beetlejuice” in Denver, in part for vaping and groping her date.
The congressman first disputed the charges before apologizing. She stated that her behavior was influenced in part by her divorce petition. Jayson Boebert claimed that he believes people should know the truth about “our broken marriage and the burden she has carried for far too long,” and that he is “devastated by the pain” he has caused his wife.

Taking Accountability: A Heartfelt Apology for the Breakdown of Our Marriage

“I take full responsibility for my actions, and I deeply regret the choices I made that led to the breakdown of our marriage,” he wrote. “In so many ways, I was unfaithful to Lauren.” I should have always given it my all, just as she did. My actions were selfish and careless, and I neglected to consider the impact they would have on the person I love the most.”
Jayson stated that after the divorce, he has “embarked on a journey of self-reflection and personal growth” and is “committed to becoming a better man, one who can fully appreciate and reciprocate the love and kindness that has been demonstrated to me.”
“If you are reading this, please know that I am dedicated to doing everything in my power to rebuild the trust that has been shattered,” he stated to his separated wife. I’m right behind you. You are the most hardworking person I know, unselfish and full of love. I despise the incoming attacks on you. This is partly my fault, and you do not deserve it.”
Jayson Boebert then begged readers to “show grace and mercy towards Lauren in this troubling season,” stating she “deserves a chance to earn your forgiveness and regain trust.” “I have broken her down in so many ways,” he said, “but she will come out stronger, as she always does, and so will I.”
Lauren Boebert expressed gratitude for her husband’s message.
“I am grateful to hear Jayson’s heartfelt remarks. This is a new season for us, and everyone’s grace and prayers for our family are appreciated,” she said in a statement to the Daily Beast.
The pair originally met at a Burger King restaurant where she worked when she was 16 and he was 22. They married in June 2005, only a few months after the birth of their first child, Tyler.
Their divorce case is set to be heard in October.
