There is really excellent news for taxpayers in Minnesota, USA, as a stimulus check program beginning in September 2023 is being implemented in this state.
Governor Tim Walz has organized a new system that would provide stimulus cheques to many households in the form of a surprise tax rebate. Walz created this stimulus check system to assist families during this tough time of year, when back-to-school prices may be extremely expensive.
“As Minnesotans prepare for back-to-school, we know that families’ excitement is mixed with the stress of buying books, backpacks, and clothes,” Walz said in a statement.
“We’ll help with that, both with payments of up to $1,300 per family and with universal free breakfast and lunch.”
“I appreciate the Department of Revenue’s efforts to get these payments to Minnesotans as soon as possible.”
Stimulus checks in Minnesota in September 2023: How does this stimulus check system work?
Minnesota’s stimulus payouts are formally referred to as “one-time tax rebate payments.”
According to the government’s website, the sums handed out are as follows:
- $520 for married couples with an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less who file a combined income or property tax return in 2021.
- $260 for everyone else with an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less in 2021.
- Each additional dependant is $260, with a maximum of three dependents.
That comes up to a maximum payout of $1,300 per family, with a minimum of $520 for those who qualify.

Who is eligible for the September 2023 Minnesota stimulus checks?
To be qualified, the government has said that you must:
- Have lived in Minnesota for a portion or all of 2021.
- By December 31, 2022, you must have submitted a 2021 Form M1 or 2021 Form M1PR.
- Have an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less in 2021 for married joint filers or $75,000 or less for all other taxpayers.
- Not declared as a dependant on someone else’s Minnesota income tax return for 2021.
If you fulfill these requirements, you should get the funds automatically, since the Minnesota Department of Revenue will utilize the 2021 tax year information to locate you.
As a result, it’s important to keep your address and contact information up to current. In terms of when you’ll receive your stimulus checks, they began on Monday, August 14, and are scheduled to last until the end of September.
If you haven’t yet received one of the stimulus checks and are qualified, you should be patient since it may arrive later this month.
