If you have not yet received your Social Security Disability Insurance payment for September, it may arrive this week. The final September payment is going out to those with birthdays occurring between the 21st and 31st of any given month. If you are uncertain about when your money is scheduled to arrive, your birthday and the date you began receiving SSDI benefits will determine the exact date.

Schedule of SSDI payments if you’ve received them since 1997 or earlier.

If you’ve been receiving SSDI since before May 1997, your payment should arrive on the third of each month. 

There are, however, exceptions. If the third day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, you will be paid the following business day. For instance, June 3 fell on a Saturday, so beneficiaries were paid on Friday, June 2.

Everyone else’s SSDI payment schedule is based on their birthday.

Those who have not received SSDI payments since 1997 or earlier are paid according to the same schedule as Social Security recipients. Here is how it operates:

  • If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be sent out on the second Wednesday of the month.
  • If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payment will be sent out on the third Wednesday of the month.
  • If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of the month, your payment will be sent out on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

When you’ll receive your September SSDI payment

Here is when you should receive your payment, dependent on your date of birth:

  • Sept. 1: Payment for those who’ve received SSDI since before May 1997.
  • Sept. 13: SSDI payment for those with birthdays falling between the 1st and 10th of any given month.
  • Sept. 20: SSDI payment for those with birthdays falling between the 11th and 20th of any given month.
  • Sept. 27: SSDI payment for those with birthdays falling between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
