Amidst the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas, a critical humanitarian crisis persists in the region.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza, which is under the jurisdiction of Hamas, reports that since October 7, when Hamas launched unprecedented attacks against Israel, more than 10,000 people have been killed in Gaza. At least 1,400 people have been killed in Israel. Gaza, which is among the most densely populated regions on the planet, has experienced internal displacement of an estimated one million people and local hospitals have been overburdened by subsequent bombardment.
A facility belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was damaged in Gaza. As a result, the organization is urging for the safeguarding of aid workers, civilians, and vital infrastructure. Medical facilities have been devastated in the battling, and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has deemed the situation “horrendous.” The organization is urging for the preservation of life.
