A group based in Huntsville, Alabama, is making efforts to include the name of independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. on the ballot for the upcoming November elections in the state.
He can secure a spot on the ballot by obtaining 5,000 signatures.
In Huntsville, Amy Castor and a group of volunteers are actively petitioning for signatures at various locations such as Lowe Mill and the downtown public library.
According to her, many individuals think that casting a ballot for a third-party candidate is equivalent to throwing their vote away.
According to her, the 1992 campaign of Ross Perot serves as evidence that thinking a third-party candidate cannot win is incorrect. She believes that such candidates are indeed viable options.
According to her, many people believed that voting for Ross Perot was a wasted vote. The exit polls reflected that if individuals had voted for Perot because they genuinely believed in him, he would have emerged victorious. She further added that if Perot had secured around 40 percent of the vote, he would have won the election. In contrast, Bush and Clinton would have only received 30 percent of the vote if people had voted based on their conscience.
The deadline for obtaining the required signatures is August 5th.
