WHAT: Downtown Block Party

WHEN: Thursdays April 12, April 26, May 10, and May 24 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Hartsville, SC – Main Street Hartsville’s annual Downtown Block Party series begins Thursday with the acoustic duo Prettier Than Matt. The duo features Jessica Skinner on vocals and ukulele and Jeff Pitts on vocals and guitar. Thursday’s concert is sponsored by Prestwood Complete Dental at 214 West Home Avenue.

“The event is always family-friendly and celebrates the local businesses which set Hartsville apart,” said Suzy Moyd, executive director of Main Street Hartsville, “If you haven’t been downtown in a while, come early and visit all of our fabulous boutiques and restaurants.”

This year’s Downtown Block Party events will be enhanced by the City’s new open container ordinance that will allow adult guests to carry beverages purchased downtown while they walk between dinner, shops, and the concert itself.

The event on Thursday is from 6 to 9 p.m. on East College Avenue. The Downtown Block Party events on College Avenue not only feature music and dancing, but also a community coming together with fun activities for the entire family and food and drink vendors, Moyd said.

The street closure on East College Avenue will range from the Fifth Street intersection through the midpoint of the 100 block. Both public parking lots will remain open and accessible from Mantissa Row, North Fourth Street and East Home Avenue.

Other concerts slated this season are The Grassabillies on April 26, The Reggie Sullivan Band on May 10 and Terence Lonon and The Untouchables on May 24. The 2018 series of concerts is brought to the community by the generous support of Duke Energy, Novolex, Prestwood Complete Dental and Sonoco.

Prettier Than Matt is an acoustic duo offering diverse music inspired by legends like Dolly Parton, Ingrid Michaelson, and Bon Jovi. The band, consisting of Jessica Skinner on vocals and ukulele and Jeff Pitts on vocals and guitar, tours across the Carolinas. Learn more about the band on their website at
