McCormick named Male Artist of the Year at Carolina Country Music Awards

South Carolina native, country music recording artist Doug McCormick took home top honors at the 2019 Carolina Country Music Awards. The event held January 26th at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach awarded McCormick 2018 Male Artist of the Year, 2018 Video of the Year and 2018 Album of the Year

“The way I grew up and where I grew up, both of those things have heavily influenced me as a songwriter, as an artist, and most importantly as a person. To be able to come back to my home state and be recognized for my music is both humbling and validating. There’s so much talent in the Carolinas. I never expected to walk away with three awards. I’m so grateful for all of those who played a role in making this happen. It was a night I’ll never forget,” said McCormick

The Carolina Country Music Awards, a production of Andrulonis media, is an annual event open to performers who grew up or now reside in North Carolina or South Carolina. Winners were selected by a panel of judges from the music and broadcasting industry.

Doug McCormick grew up the son of a blue collar textile worker in Patrick (pop 350). After graduating from Clemson University with a degree in Agricultural Education, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. Two years later, Doug signed a publishing deal with BMG Chrysalis and began working with producer, Marshall Altman (Frankie Ballard, Eric Paslay, Amy Grant and Aaron Watson). Doug and Marshall collaborated on the 2018 Album of the Year, Sweet Dixie Memory.

The music video for Doug’s single, “Good Beers Left”, a song he co-wrote with Thomas Archer (Luke Combs - “Hurricane”) was featured in CMT’s 12-Pack Countdown for six weeks in 2018.

At the Carolina Country Music Awards, the “Good Beers Left” video was named the 2018 Video of the Year.

Doug now resides in Nashville, TN with his wife and two kids. Through authentic music and relentless touring, Doug has built a loyal, grassroots following that continues to grow with each performance. He looks ahead with excitement to all the future holds, and continues to humbly tip his hat to the ones who make it possible for him to live his dream every day: God and the fans of country music.
