Retrofit sip-n-seat will be hosting a fundraiser for brain cancer research on Saturday, September 24 at Hartsville’s Vista Park beginning at 4 p.m. The event will feature a one-mile beer fun run, live music, food and beverage venders, and activities for children, including tractor trailer rides, face painting, pony rides, and a fire truck. The event is free to attend. To participate in the beer fun run, register at eventbrite.com and search for “Defeat GBM” in Hartsville.
Glioblastoma (GBM) are highly malignant tumors of the brain. According to the American Brain Tumor Association, depending on the type of GBM, the mean survival rate ranges from 14 months to three years. Brandy Stellingworth, owner of Retrofit sip-n-seat says she is holding the fundraiser in honor of her employee Sam DuPree’s mother Kelly DuPree, who is battling the disease. “Kelly has stage four brain cancer so you can imagine the urge I felt to help out. I adore his Sam’s mom. When I offered to have a benefit for her, she turned me down and asked if we could raise money for research to help find a cure for others. So, I want to knock this out of the park for her!”
Sponsorships are available, beginning as low as $200. Each sponsor will have their logo on the race t-shirts and event posters. Higher-level donors will be recognized between each band’s set. Stellingworth is also looking for vendors, especially food vendors.
