BCSD dancers are national champs

The Brenda Cranford School of Dance recently competed at Showstopper National Dance Competition East Coast Finals and was named National Champions in the Senior Small Group Intermediate Division. Their routine, “Get Loose,” choreographed by BCSD Instructor Crystal McInnis, won top honors with a double platinum score - the highest score possible in the division. Dancers in this number included Ainsley Hamilton, Ava Caulder, Diana Williams, Briley Lee, Lily Calabrese, Sarah August, Christa Conte, Grayson Lloyd and Zillie Braddy.

More than 50 dancers from the competitive program at BCSD traveled to the event and the majority of the routines placed in the overalls.

BCSD offers classes in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, cheer, and tumble for dancers two years old to adult. The programs offered are recreational level classes where dancers attend weekly and participate in one year-end performance. The competitive program is by audition process only and dancers attend three local regional events and one national event per year as well as entertain at local events. Competitive dance students attend class weekly but with more class time required.

The upcoming intensives for interested students are “THE” Tap Intensive Aug. 13, “THE” Ballet Intensive Aug.16-18, “THE” Hip Hop Intensive Aug. 21, and “THE” Jazz Intensive Aug. 22-25. Team placements will be held during the intensives. The studio welcomes all area dancers to attend and take classes without the audition process if desired.

BCSD is now entering their 42nd season of dance instruction in Hartsville and has been named top studio of the Pee Dee for the past four years. The studio, under the direction of owner Brenda Cranford, is located at 708/712 West Carolina Ave. The studio will host an open house and hold registration Aug. 8-11 and 15-18 from 2- 7 p.m. each day. The staff invites all to stop by under no obligation to sign up to visit their dance studio and inquire about class availability.

Mrs. Brenda and her staff would love to talk with anyone who would like any information on the programs the studio offers and they are looking forward to continuing the BCSD quality of dance instruction for another great season!
