Foxes take a break due to Hurricane Florence
After their third game of the season, the Red Foxes took a short break due to hurricane Florence when it interrupted their scheduled game against the Bluffton Bobcats. As we all know, time should never be wasted so this will give our Foxes time to prepare for the much anticipated challenge against Abbeville. Each year the Panthers have been a grueling competitor for the Foxes, however the plan is to keep our winning streak going.
Looking back over the last three games the defensive team has really honed in on their responsibilities as has the kick-off and punt teams. They have kept the opponents on the inside so that the Foxes have been able to make successful tackles. The offense is taking strides in keeping team work a major focus of their strategy.
Solo tackles have been a great highlight of the last two games. #23 Z’yriq Thomas executed a pin-point tackle on the 5 yard line in last week’s game against Conway. It was evident that he was fixed on getting the job done for his team. Line backers, ends, corners and safeties are also doing an excellent job reading and executing.
The morale of the Foxes is high but they are not just satisfied with a win. Coach Calabrese is pushing his team by encouraging them to see their mistakes and learn from them rather than repeating them. There is still a ways to go until the end of the season and the Foxes have no time to relax. Coach Calabrese and the rest of the coaches are bent on keeping the Foxes on their toes to take them through the conference and then to the championship with a full sweep win.
Unfortunately, the Foxes have lost an offensive RB in Donovan Lambert who will now be attending Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School in Darlington. The Foxes wish Donovan the best in his career at Trinity and much
success in all his endeavors knowing that he will always be a Red Fox.
The next game will be against the Abbeville Panthers on Friday, September 21, right here at our home field, Kelleytown Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:30 and we hope to see you all there to support our favorite team, the Hartsville Red Foxes.
