It’s your choice
By: Leslie B. Williamson
As I accompanied my husband this morning on his way to a site, he and I had an interesting conversation about pre-arranging our funerals and plans for that fateful day. As we all know, all of us will have to leave this earth realm at some point, but we don’t talk about it because it takes our thoughts away from living. I have even come across people who believe that once a person dies, that’s it. They believe that after death there is no existence. Then we have those who believe that everyone goes to Heaven when they die and all of their woes will be over. Unfortunately according to the Word of God this is not the case at all. God desires that no man should perish or be damned to eternal punishment for denying His Son, Jesus Christ. He wants all of His children to make it to Heaven, but I submit to you today that the choice is yours.
Let’s look at this from two different perspectives. For those of you who are believers and read the Word of God you already know that the scriptures say that, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. In other words, their destination is based upon the fact that they had right relationship with Jesus according to St. John 13:6 which reads, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Immediately after his spirit leaves his body, for a believer who has been in right relationship with the Savior, he is in the company of the Savior. However if one has not been in relationship with Jesus and has not accepted him in his heart as his Savior then his destination after death is questionable.
It would make sense to me to be better safe than sorry. After we die we don’t get the chance to make a life-changing decision. What does it hurt to submit your life to your biggest cheerleader now and know that you will go to Heaven, rather than to live a sinful, separated from God life where you don’t have peace and be sure of living with our Creator in a splendid eternal existence, free from pain, sickness and sorrow?
As long as there is life, there is hope. Hope for you to engage in a relationship with the Ancient of days that has been in your corner from day one. The One who made a way of escape from a place that was not made for you to spend eternity in, but if you choose to do so, He loves you enough to allow you to make up your own mind.
The Holy Spirit is pleading with you on today. Let today be your day of permanent decision to escape a burning hell and embrace your future in Heaven. Those of you who are reading these words can never say, “I didn’t know”. My article today is thought provoking and straight to the point unlike some of my work. My heart is burdened to tell you today, don’t let tomorrow be too late. Every blessing to each of you!
