I love going out to eat with friends and family and one of the best places to go is a good ‘ole buffet. Walking in you see and smell the steaming smorgasbord of delectable delights to choose from. There is so much to select that you can hardly decide what to try first.
Unlike a food buffet, we can’t just pick and choose what we want because the scriptures say that we must eat the whole roll. Revelation 10:9, “And I went to the angel and said, give me the small scroll. Take it and eat it, he said. It will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” The angel instructed him to eat the entire scroll and not leave anything. In other words, we can’t pick and choose what God wants us to partake. We either eat it all or none at all.
Sometimes we want to treat our walk with Christ just like a buffet where we can choose what we encounter on this journey, but in order to be prepared, we have to consume it all. It may be bitter or unpleasant going down, but in the end it will do us good. We can’t afford to be selective about how God molds us. Just understand that no matter how tough it may seem, it is for our good and we will benefit from it!
