Stick to your assignment

When God speaks to your heart and gives you an assignment, don’t begin thinking of excuses not to obey. Remember obedience brings about blessing. People are always expecting God to bless them, but they forget that they must first obey Him.

When Moses heard the Lord speak from the burning bush, he immediately began to say “Who am I that I should go to pharaoh” and “they won’t listen”. He even admitted he was slow of speech and tongue, but for every excuse, God had a solution for Moses.

Jonah actually even ran away to avoid obeying the instruction of the Lord. We too are guilty of finding excuses to do what God has commanded us to do. God may assign you to be a blessing to someone you may think doesn’t deserve it or speak life to someone in need that you may try to avoid like the plague. Deep down in your heart, you know that it’s the Lord speaking to you, but your pride and your flesh would have you make an excuse rather than obey God. We need to remember that when we obey God and bless others as He commands, we in turn get blessed because we obeyed without question. So the blessing business is two-fold if done in the right spirit.

When you hear the Holy Spirit speak to you, you will know His voice because according to the Word of God, His sheep knows His voice. He speaks to us all during the day, but do we make ourselves available to listen to Him? When you hear Him, obey Him and receive your assignment. Then make an effort to carry out the assignment and watch the blessings come back to you.

As believers, let’s do away with excuses to keep from carrying out the assignment that are given to us daily. God wants us to be blessed as we obey Him to bless others. Let’s not be like Moses and Jonah and have to learn the hard way. Obey the voice of the Lord the moment you hear Him speak to your heart and you can’t go wrong. Throw your excuses out of the window and you will win!
