Items that are not eligible for the offer are digital cameras, smartphones, jewelry, eyewear, and furniture.
SCDOR Director Hartley Powells stated that this year’s tax-free weekend provides some relief for families who are struggling due to inflation. According to him, every shopper can save money during this tax holiday, especially on back-to-school essentials.
According to the SCDOR, last year’s tax-free weekend resulted in a total expenditure of over $30 million by shoppers across the state. Furthermore, shoppers were able to save almost $2 million in sales taxes during this period.
