From now until Sunday, you can buy specific items such as school supplies, computers, printers, clothing, and bed and bath products without paying state sales tax. This offer also applies to online purchases.
Items that are not eligible for the offer are digital cameras, smartphones, jewelry, eyewear, and furniture.
SCDOR Director Hartley Powells stated that this year’s tax-free weekend provides some relief for families who are struggling due to inflation. According to him, every shopper can save money during this tax holiday, especially on back-to-school essentials.
According to the SCDOR, last year’s tax-free weekend resulted in a total expenditure of over $30 million by shoppers across the state. Furthermore, shoppers were able to save almost $2 million in sales taxes during this period.
