According to the Houston Fire Department, an apartment fire broke out in southwest Houston early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of three individuals and injuring one other person.
During an interview with ABC13, the mother of three young girls revealed that the victims of the tragic incident were her daughters, aged 8, 11, and 15. The family shared the first names of the deceased with ABC13, which were Anita, Yulisa, and Evelen.
ABC13 interviewed Meybis Evelen Zelaya, the mother of the children who died in the fire. According to Zelaya, the mother had left for work at around 4 a.m. and the fire broke out about an hour and a half later, resulting in the tragic loss of her children.
According to officials, the firefighters arrived within four minutes, but unfortunately, it was already too late.
Oscar and her three young daughters were all inside the house at that time.
Out of everyone involved, the only survivor was the son.
Zelaya adamantly refuses to accept what has happened, citing the immense love they had for the person or people in question. “Nobody has any idea how much I loved them,” Zelaya emotionally expressed.
According to HFD’s tweet on the platform formerly known as Twitter, firefighters were dispatched to a condominium located at 8110 Albacore near Bissonnet Street at approximately 5:45 a.m. in response to a reported fire.
According to officials, the police were alerted to the fire by a passerby who noticed the flames.
According to firefighters, they swiftly responded to the emergency within four minutes and successfully limited the fire to just one unit.
During a recent update on the fire in Houston, the newly appointed fire chief, Thomas Muñoz, stated that the investigation is still in the preliminary stages and is ongoing.
At the moment, Zelaya is unable to provide any solutions to her heartbreaking situation. She is left with the unbearable pain of having to bury not just one, but three of her children.
Zelaya expressed the agony of losing his three daughters by stating, “It is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.”
According to Zelaya, her daughters possessed not only beauty but intelligence as well. They had a passion for theater and an unwavering love for each other.
Zelaya expressed her profound grief saying, “It’s incredibly difficult as my three angels are no longer with me. I wouldn’t want anyone to experience this pain.”
Zelaya expresses her gratitude towards her friends and family who came to support her in salvaging whatever remains of the life she once knew.
Waking up to four children and going to bed with only one can be a jarring experience.
According to Zelaya, the experience is like being disconnected from her own reality and having an out of body sensation.
Zelaya expressed that although physically present, a significant part of them had perished alongside those they lost.
The family has joined hands with a business to raise funds for the funerals of the girls.
