Massive in-state tackle chooses Georgia over Oregon and Tennessee

On Friday, Juan Gaston, a 4-star offensive lineman for the 2025 season, gave a verbal commitment to Georgia, which was a significant achievement for the team.

Hailing from Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake, Gaston is considered one of the most promising prospects in the state. Despite receiving offers from Oregon, Tennessee, and South Carolina, he ultimately chose the Bulldogs. Although he visited all three of the other schools earlier this summer, he had already been leaning towards Georgia before his official announcement on Friday.

With a towering height of 6-foot-7 and a weight of 345 pounds, Gaston possesses immense strength and athleticism. It’s not every day that you come across a man of his size who can squat to depth with over 500 pounds of weight. Gaston is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with, as he is a true mauler.

According to the industry-generated 247 Composite, Gaston is considered a highly sought-after recruit. Standing at No. 164 in the overall class rankings, he holds the 16th spot for offensive tackles and is the 20th-ranked recruit hailing from Georgia.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recognized Gaston as an All-Metro selection last autumn, where he played as the left tackle for Westlake’s team that achieved a 9-3 record in Georgia’s highest classification. Apart from football, Gaston also enjoys playing basketball.

Georgia’s 2025 class has now reached 22 known commitments with Gaston’s announcement. The class is currently ranked third in the country and includes two Composite 5-star players. Gaston is the fourth offensive lineman to join the class publicly, along with Cortez Smith from Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview, Mason Short from Evans (Ga.) High, and Dontrell Glover from Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes. All four of the linemen are top-300 recruits and Composite 4-star players.
