Ted Diadiun’s tendency to complain about any and all proposals put forth by Democrats is once again on display in his article titled “Taking a Close Look at the Redistricting Freight Train” from July 28th.
Despite the upcoming statewide vote that will finally put an end to the reviled practice of gerrymandering in Ohio, he simply cannot come to terms with the concept of fair and impartial elections.
He acknowledges the imperfections in the current state of affairs by saying “What we have now is far from perfect,” but fails to propose any solutions to address these issues.
In his statement, he mentions that Ohioans have a poor track record when it comes to making decisions on state referenda. It seems like he would be more content living in Wyoming. His perspective aligns with the attitude often displayed on Fox, where everything is seen as a problem without any clear solutions being presented.
Ohio’s voting districts are currently gerrymandered to guarantee Republicans a supermajority, but efforts are underway to create a fair system that benefits both parties. A group of experts have come together to devise a plan that aims to draw the districts in a way that is unbiased and equitable.
It’s no surprise that Ted Diadiuns is taking issue with addressing the corrupt practice of gerrymandering, given my familiarity with his articles over time.
