According to News12, Suffolk County police reported that when a fight broke out during a wedding reception, cops were dispatched to the Flowerfield wedding site in St. James.

A visitor who wasn’t invited to the wedding celebration showed up, according to Suffolk Chief of Patrol Gerard Hardy, and caused a disturbance.

“From preliminary reports, it looks like an uninvited guest showed up and that triggered a chain of events, which ended up turning into a large fight,” Hardy said.

A cop was allegedly bit in the arm by Justize Murphy when he attempted to break up the brawl and regain control of the situation.

According to court records, Murphy bit the officer as he was attempting to control him amid a brawl involving several others.

The officer’s forearm experienced “immediate pain and redness” as a result of the claimed bite.

Murphy’s lawyer, George Duncan, claimed that his client was the bride’s brother.

“My client maintains his innocence. We look forward to a thorough investigation,” Duncan said. “My client has never been arrested before, has no prior contact with the criminal justice system whatsoever, has never so much as gotten a speeding ticket.”

Charges of harassment and hindering governmental administration are brought against the other person detained for pushing an officer.
