A vigilant parent in Pennsylvania made a disturbing discovery after biting into their child’s Halloween confectionery, alerting authorities to the presence of a sewing needle.

Chris Raubenstine, chief of police for Silver Spring Township, stated that authorities are investigating whether the confectionery containing sewing needles fell to the ground inadvertently or was placed there on purpose.

“We do not know if it fell or if it was placed there intentionally in the hope that someone would find it,” Raubenstine told WHTM.

The police superintendent stated that he had never before discovered needles in Halloween confectionery.

“We all hear about these things every year, but this is, in my 30 years, the first time that we’ve ever actually had it occur,” Raubenstine commented.

The police advised that adults inspect all confectionery before permitting children to consume it.

Authorities asked anyone with information about who may be involved with the tampered confectionery to contact Silver Spring Township Police Department at 717-697-0607.
