In an effort to cross the Rio Grande into Texas, a migrant mom and her two children perished in the water.

In addition to complaining that state officials refused federal agents entry to a park along the river when they arrived to search for the family, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) publicized the tragic incident on Friday in a news release, according to Border Report.

The migrants were beyond the help of Border Patrol’s ability to save them.

Cuellar said the mom and children got stuck in the river’s currents by Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas. Earlier in the week, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers barred entry to the park, so Border Patrol agents were unable to assist them.

Agents with the Border Patrol discovered on Friday that six migrants were in the river in distress. He claimed that they made fruitless phone attempts to reach the Texas Military Department, Texas National Guard, and other state officials.

According to Cuellar, the agents soon encountered representatives of the Texas Military Department and Texas National Guard at the Shelby Park entrance gate, informing them that the border crossers were facing serious consequences.

The state Justice Department on Friday sought the U.S. According to the Border Report, the Supreme Court will order Texas to stop preventing entry to the 50-acre park.

A representative for Governor Greg Abbott responded to inquiries regarding the incident by saying that Texas is erecting miles of extra razor wire and anti-climb barriers at our southern border in order to repel and discourage the record-high levels of illegal immigration that President Biden’s reckless open border policies have invited.
