Former Hartsville Mayor and Darlington County Judge Michael Shea Holt Sr. Passes Away at 54

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (hartsvillenewsjournal.com) — Michael Shea Holt Sr., a former mayor of Hartsville and current Darlington County Judge, passed away on Sunday, according to an online obituary. He was 54 years old.

Holt had been serving as a Fourth Circuit judge since his election in February 2021. He previously held the position of mayor of Hartsville from 2005 to 2009.

He graduated with a degree in history from the University of South Carolina in 1992 and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1996. His term as a judge was to conclude in 2027.

A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville.
