According to court records described in a Friday night article from the New Jersey Globe, Kevin Tomafsky was detained on August 15 after being charged with numerous counts of child sex assault by a grand jury in July.

The National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) was notified by Snapchat in October 2022 that a number of videos containing child sex assault had been posted to the platform, according to the news source. This prompted the NCMEC to launch an inquiry into Tomafsky, 41. The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office was contacted by the NCMEC when it was made aware of the content.

According to allegations made after the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office reviewed the app’s content, Tomafsky allegedly received a picture of a six-year-old girl being sexually assaulted by an adult through the app.

In December 2022, police carried out a search warrant at Tomafsky’s residence, which he and his mother shared. Less than 1,000 items related to child sexual assault were discovered there, all of which were on devices that belonged to Tomafsky.

Tomafsky is purportedly accused of having intercourse with a kid, conspiring to damage the welfare of a child, allowing a child to use child pornography, and having child pornography in his possession.

Six criminal counts were brought against another person in the case, including intentionally performing sexual penetration on the six-year-old and taking pictures of a kid having sex. According to three sources cited by the Globe, the second person is supposedly Tomafsky’s father.

According to the outlet, Tomafsky was formerly the campaign manager for Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo, who represented New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District from 1995 to 2019. Christie hired him in 2010 to work in the governor’s office.

Till 2012, Tomafsky worked with Christie’s group in a variety of capacities. He reportedly managed surrogates who represented Christie at events while working in the governor’s scheduling department.

Tomafsky was later employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to work as a government and community relations representative, according to the site, with the assistance of Christie’s office.

Tomafsky apparently worked for an unnamed governmental agency until Friday, when he announced his resignation.

In Mannington Township, New Jersey, at the Salem County Correctional Facility, Tomafsky is being detained.

In response to a request for comment from Fox News Digital, Christie’s campaign did not immediately react.
